We had our first snow day of the season, which is rather early for Western Washington which gave me time for a little crafting. I thought about using my Cricut, but I really love to paint – it’s really relaxing.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
- lime green Acrylic Paint (all of them for hard surfaces)
- Bright red Acrylic Paint
- Orange Acrylic Paint
- Brown Acrylic Paint
- Artist Brush with fine point tip
- Acrylic Spray Finish
- White dinner plate from the dollar store
- Lid of discarded tin can
- Alternate colors back and forth between each word and punctuation in bright red and lime green.
- If you are disappointed with anything erase with a paper towel or Qtip and redo.
- After each first coat, repeat a second coat in each color.
- Use the lid of a discarded tin can to trace a circle in dots for the spot intended for Santa’s Christmas cookie in brown acrylic paint.
- Using brown paint in the center of the circle write “For Santa”.
- If you are disappointed with anything erase with a paper towel or Qtip and redo.
- Using the orange paint, draw a carrot triangular shaped in dots.
- In the center of the carrot write “for” and underneath the carrot wite “Rudolph”.
- Using the lime green paint, draw three wavy green stem leafs for the carrot tops.
- In a well ventilated area, spray a even layer of clear acrylic spray over the plate to create more permanence.
I hope this helps inspire your plate for continuing that Christmas magic that all fades once we grow too old, but can be relived with our children. 🎅🎄❤
