Nightmare Before Christmas Trunk or Treat:  DIY Lock, Shock, and Barrel Figurines

Since everyone is trunk or treating, it’s just not possible to exclude these mischievous beloved characters to the scene!  In this installmentI will teach you how to make your very own 6 inch figurines to add a little trick to your trunk or treat.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • Styrofoam cone for floral arrangements  (got mine at the dollar store)
  • Shish Kabob Skewers
  • Red felt
  • Air Drying Clay
  • Red Acrylic Paint
  • Black Acrylic Paint
  • Hot Glue and Glue Gun
  • Foam art sheets  (from my dollar store)
  • Cardboard toilet paper tube
  • Floral Wire  (found at dollar store)
  • X-acto Knife
  1. Cut the top off of the Styrofoam cone  (aabout 2 inches) and then cut in half.
  2. Add arched wire to each side of tge head to create make horns and cover with air drying clay, cover the front and back and add an exaggerated nose.  Use a tooth pick or other tools to round out the eyes and mouth and allow to dry overnight.
  3. Paint the head red and allow to dry.
  4. Fold about 1 inch of the TP tube in on itself and hot glue into place.
  5. Fold in the top sides to create a shape that looks like boxy shoulders and hot glue together.
  6. Cover the torso with red felt, hot gluing into place.
  7. Break off pieces of Shish Kabob Skewers to make the arms and cover with 2-3 layers of foam art hot gluing and rolling onto the Skewer and then cover with felt.  Break the arms to look like they’re bent if you want.
  8. Cut the end of the top of the arms at an angle and glue onto the torso.
  9. Break off pieces of Shish Kabob Skewers to make legs and cover with 2-3 layers of foam art hot gluing and rolling onto the Skewer, cover with felt, and then glue them on the inside of your TP tube.  Hot glue head onto the body.
  10. Sculpt hands and feet testing the size on your figure (you can allow to air dry overnight or put in microwave for a few minutes to dry right away (may cause cracking) and paint black.
  11. Once the paint dries,  hot glue into place.
  12. Roll out small eyes and push into the eye sockets and allow to dry. If the fall out, hot glue into place once dried.
  13. Paint black dots under the nose for nostrils and each pupil.
