Nightmare Before Christmas Trunk or Treat Part 6: In This Town We Call Home, Everyone Hail to the Pumpkin Song

So the time has come for me to teach you how to make your own 12″ Jack Skellington for either a really cool window decoration, table decoration or Trunk or Treat display.  Check out more of my posts for instructions on creating some of my favorite movie characters!

• Foam ball (from dollar store)
• Black felt
• Shikabob Skewers
• Air Drying Clay
• Styrofoam cone
• Glue Gun and Glue
• White Acrylic Paint
• Black Acrylic Paint
• Yellow Acrylic Paint
• X-acto Knife
• Black Foam Art Sheets

1. Cover the foam ball with a thin layer of air drying clay smoothly,  add a generous layers where you are going to add the face.
2. Use the round end of your X-acto Knife to hollow out the eye sockets.
3. Use the sharp end to create the mouth as shown in pictures and nostrils.
4. Once dry paint the eyes, nose and mouth black.
5. Cut the tip off of the Styrofoam cone and then cut the tip in half length wise for his torso.
6. Cover the front of the half of the Styrofoam cone with air drying clay.
7. Take the black felt and crutches out the coat for Jack  (I covered the torso and cut as needed) and glue into place.
8. Cut triangular strips for each lapel and glue on.
9. Cut the tips off two Skewers and cover with black felt to make arms and legs securing with hot glue and then glue onto the body.
10. Dip your sharp edges of your X-acto Knife into your white paint and make stripes down his suit.
11. Once the paint dries, break the arms so they look bent.
12. Cut out a bath shaped tie from the black foam art and add white stripes the same way as before for the suit.
13. Using the airline drying clay shape the bat head, use the sharp end of a Kabob Skewer to make pointy bad eye indentations and let dry overnight.
14. Paint the head black and once dried, paint the eyes yellow, allow to dry.
15. Glue the bat bow into place and then glue on the head.
16. Sculpt hands and feet. Once dry,  glue on the hands and paint on black lines for the finger joints and paint the feet black.
17. Paint the feet black and glue on.
